Rail pads are elastic polyurethane mats which are installed directly under the foot of the rail. They have a defined stiffness and serve to increase the elasticity of the ballasted superstructure. Improved load distribution results in a more comfortable ride and less wear and wear on the track superstructure. The higher elasticity also has a positive impact on the wear on superstructure components and the vehicles.
