Working with wood: Knocking out the knocks with Getzner
Even though wood is a beautiful material to build with, it has the disadvantage that it can be excited with a very small amount of energy and transmits noise quite well. As a result, builders working with wood face special challenges when it comes to noise protection. Transmission of noise is also influenced by the type of joints that used between partition walls, side walls, ceilings and structural components, and the type of materials can also be an important factor.
Footstep noise and airborne noise can be transmitted directly through the ceiling, but also indirectly, for example via exterior walls or ventilation shafts. Noise can also be transmitted more easily if there is solid contact between the partition walls. Working together with construction designers from various areas, Getzner Werkstoffe has developed new solutions in the field of noise protection. Sylomer® insert pads are an effective means of interrupting the transmission of noise and help to ensure good isolation of the rooms.
